Workshop Information

WORKSHOPS

So what happens at a sea glass workshop?

First and foremost it is a time spent with friends, making new friends and creating something beautiful

Workshops are held at various venues in the East Midlands including:

The Hideaway - Karen's studio in North West Leicestershire

Sharpe's Pottery Museum Swadlincote

Coalville C.A.N

Deepwell Arts Leicester

Belgrave Hall Leicester

All resources will be provided for you and you will be guided through the complete process by Karen, who will help you to unleash your creativity, even if you think you have none!

Over the course of a couple of hours you will create your sea glass art which will then be framed

Relaxing and therapeutic are some of the words that people have used about the workshops and just spending time together with like minded individuals is enjoyable.

Experience is not needed and the workshop is suitable for both adults and children and young people. You will be so surprised at what you will create for yourself.

Check out the gallery and see some of the recent creations that have been produced by ladies and the odd gentleman attending the Shore Things Workshops.

SHORE THINGS STORY

I  am Karen, a sea glass artist  based in North West Leicestershire. I started Shore Things by Karen in 2022 and now have the privelege of not only creating my own pieces of art but also assisting others to create their own unique pieces.

In 2022 I went on holiday to the Isle of Wight where we always went as children with my mum and dad. On the last day I found some tiny pieces of very beautiful sea glass. I put them in my pocket thinking I would maybe do something with them.

After I had made a few pictures I soon realised that people really like and admire them.  I decided to not only create my own pieces but to use my educational background to help others to create something beautiful.

Everyone I meet whether it be at a craft fair or a workshop all say that they love sea glass.  The fact that what was once rubbish and thrown into the sea is now treasure, never ceases to amaze me and I love being able to share this joy with others.
